The use of 4x10 inch car speakers can usually be found in older model mid-sized trucks. Factory 4 x 10 inch speakers lack a dedicated tweeter and are usually equipped with a whizzler to facilitate some high frequency reproduction. Contrary, aftermarket speakers are usually outfitted with a tweeter in a coaxial design providing a much more full-range sound. 4x10 inch car speakers are outfitted with a relatively small and oblong shaped woofer. This woofer will be limited in its ability to produce low bass. For this reason it is high recommended to add a subwoofer. The oval shape makes the speaker easy mount virtually anywhere and are usually found in the top of the dash.
