Heat shrink tubing used to insulate and protect wire connections in car audio and 12-volt electrical installations. Heat shrink tubing is slid over a bare wire, splice, or soldered joint and then heated, causing it to contract tightly around the connection to seal out moisture and prevent shorts or abrasion against the vehicle's chassis and surrounding components. This selection includes tubing in both 2:1 and 3:1 shrink ratios, meaning the tubing shrinks to half or a third of its original diameter, allowing installers to match the tubing to a range of wire and connector sizes. Heat shrink is especially recommended for use with soldered connections, since soldering creates a permanent joint that won't loosen the way a crimp connector can over time, and the tubing provides the insulation a solder joint needs. Choosing the correct diameter and shrink ratio helps ensure a snug, professional-looking finish on any wiring job.

Heat shrink tubing protects wires, by helping to resist the damage of elemental conditions, as well as maintain balanced electrical conduction of low and high voltage devices.
