Nice - but I expected more.

Recently installed these in a 2014 Ford F-150 Lariat, grey leather interior. I read the reviews about all female RCA connections (why???) and pre-ordered 6 RCA male/male couplings from Amazon for about $7. I took a chance ordering the dark grey headrests knowing that the plain grey headrests were not going to match according to reviews I read on other websites. These do not match either. Disappointing, but keeping them anyway after spending $40 for shipping back the Tview T99DVTS 9" headrests for clashing with my interior color.

As previously stated, the installation instructions are worthless because there aren't any. And, the thickness / padding of the headrests are half the size of the original. Again, useless because they are too far back to be used while driving and vey little padding to be comfortable.

A fact that needs to be reiterated is that the included wireless headsets and therefore 2 channel transmitters are RF - not IR!!! I had to pay for shipping a second time to return previously purchased IR headsets (to be used for Tview units) that are not compatible with this product. Would have kept them otherwise. The QMV product description still indicates these as IR. A QMV tech assured me of this on the phone before purchasing. Not true.

The positives. Quality of video screens, controls, and included headsets and volume control seem fine. Kid's have not used them long enough to attest to their durability. However, one monitor does have an annoying rattle when driving on slightly bumpy roads. Haven't taken the time yet to attempt to eliminate it.

As stated in my summary, I expected more. These units were twice as expensive as the Tview products. My only complaint with them was the color shade of the headrest material.

I have owned this product for over a month now and it has exceeded my expectations. I chose headrest monitors instead of the drop down roof mounted ones because I did not want to obstruct rear view vision and allow independent viewing / game play while on long road trip.

I lover the fact that after we installed these all i could hear from the rear was laughter from the movie my son was watching while we were on a three hour trip. Simply Awesome.

I installed these myself since there was power under the seat (for power seats), but had to call support to find out which post carried the power and which were a/v. Tech guy was helpful - power cable is on DVD side(FYI). The size of the screen was perfect - it looks alot bigger than I imagined and I am glad I did not go for the bigger screen that would have been problematic. The brightness and quality of the picture was superb. comes with two remotes and good to use since touch screen is great if you don't have the remote handy, but you will have to put up with finger smudges.

Bought this headrest DVD system a week before a long trip with the family. I have two boys - 5 and 2 and bought it for my wife's 2008 Mazda 5 (sport minivan).

The color (tan leather) matched pretty well. Installing them into the headrest slots was pretty easy and it was also pretty easy to figure out how all the A/V connections synched up. Everything was labeled pretty well. The trickiest part (for me) was figuring out the power wiring. There are virtually no instructions that come with it other than one page of a "diagram" in the user's manual, but that doesn't really help. I called around Best Buy and some others and got quotes of $200-$350 to do the wiring/install.

Ultimately, I decided to do it myself and just hook it up through the cigarette lighter outlets. Part of the reason was because we only have 1 year left on the lease for this car so we'll be able to easily take it out and put it into the next car and at that time, probably get it professionally installed. But the cig lighter power is great! I got two adapters at radio shack (each headrest needs power) that have easy screw and clamp attachments for the wires and I also got a splitter so we could still plug a cell phone in at the same time. It also helps that this car has an extra DC outlet in the back that I was able to wire power to for one of the units. The only other thing missing was the male-to-male (standard) AV cables to connect the two sources, but I actually had a bunch of those already (they're cheap and easy to find anyway).

I was able to wire everything pretty easily and hide pretty much all the wires in the seat backs and under the floor carpeting/floor mats.

Everything works great. Picture and sound are good, having dual sources is fantastic. All options are available since you can watch same source, different sources or even front inputs for video games, etc. RF Headphones are awesome! - great sound and handy storage cases.

One potential flaw is the audio options, if you don't use the headphones. My 2-year-old won't quite keep the headphones on his head and there are no speakers built in to these units. The only options are the FM transmitter, which sounds terrible and is nearly impossible to lock onto a good station unless you're out in the middle of the desert, miles away from anywhere. Or, you could wire one of the audio outputs to the auxillary audio jack in your car's sound system if you have one. We do, but you run into mild "humming" interference noise from the car's engine.

Other than that, I would highly recommend this product - great price and great option.

I first purchased the Movies to go system from audiovox. After installing and removing two complete sets and still having problems with the slave monitor I returned it. I decided to purchase this system for about two hundred dollars more. I am glad i did. The touch screen controls the everyday controls nicely. The screen is big and clear. The wireless headphones supplied are great! No static and plenty loud. Not so crazy about the fm modulator so i hard wired the sound from one of the sound outputs via rca cable to my mp3 player input to my stereo. works great and no matter which headrest is playing the dvd sound is forwarded to stereo. The movies to go system was a whole lot easier to install b/c it had better instructions and more install options. The hdvd9 instructions were not so great. They failed to mention you need to buy 2 rca style cables with male connectors on each side. (left, right, video). each headrest has input side and output side but all connectors are female so they do not plug right into each other. Lastly there is no cord to go to power source. ******install tip!!!!********** Get a fuse tap! i have installed many things and have never heard of this thing before. It was really hard to find. I finally found one by calling a local Best Buy store. They do not sell them but an installer was nice enough to give me two. Basically pick a fuse. some vehicles have an extra accessories fuse or you can use the cig lighter or even the radio fuse. i choose one of the cig lighters. Pull the fuse and with a multimeter find which side of the fuse has power when key is on. Install the fuse tap where fuse goes on either side and put fuse back in. The tap has a spade terminal on the other end for you to connect to with a female spade connector. if you put the tap on the side with no power the fuse will protect the accessory(headrest). i picked the power side and intalled an inline fuse at the source, so the cig lighter would be functional to charge phones and other accessories. the headrest also have fast acting fuses in each line. Overall very pleased with finish and quality! My kids love it! (Posted on 4/2/2010)

Will these replace the factory head rest for 2013 Kia Sorento? There are other questions but will wait on this answer. Thanks

Do these have speakers built in? Will they run through car's audio and speakers? What about plugging games into it to play? Does it support a wireless game controller?

  • Posted by Salvador Diaz on Thursday, July 18, 2013

These headrests does not have built in speakers. The Audio can be heard either through the car speakers or the wireless headphones. A game console can be plugged into the input of the headrests no problem. When it comes to the wireless game controller, it will support it beacuse the game controller and console are working together.
