Digital Noise Reduction (DNR) eliminates noise that is created in the image by applying a digital comb filter. In low light levels, the camera compensates for a lack of light by slowing the shutter speed and opening the iris to allow more light. The camera also applies additional gain to increase the light level, this process causes noise, DNR compensates for this and increases picture quality.
