Our testing and analysis of the Jensen CAR710X
We just got in Jensen’s new CAR710X 7” digital media receiver, and besides its name it is actually a pretty interesting headunit. This double din features a 7” display, bluetooth, Apple carplay and android auto. But with a price tag of $300, is the CAR710X worth taking a shot on? Stay tuned at the end of the video for our power testing and my cons.
What's inside the box
Inside the box is an external microphone for hands free calling, wiring harness, RCA harness which features pre-amp outputs for front and rear plus two for subwoofers, RCA AV Inputs and camera input, hardware, radio trim panel, owner’s manual and double din headunit.
The unique chassis of the stereo was designed in a way to ensure open space for expandability and connections. It sort of looks like a hollowed out double din stereo, which is kind of what most double dins are anyways. Majority are filled with empty space. The CAR710X is very similar to the Dual DMCPA70 in this way, which we have reviewed before.
Rear Connections
The rear connections include wiring harness, RCA Audio Video harness, Sirius XM, external microphone for hands free calling, radio antenna and USB pigtail.
Display
After booting this up we get a look at the 7” display which is not HD and not a capacitive touchscreen. Both L’s. But the 1024x600 resolution is better than the usual 800x480 and gets us close to 720p. The OS is a bit mundane, but it gets the job done. And the touchscreen could be a bit unresponsive at times.
Apple Carplay and Android Auto
Apple Carplay and Android Auto are essential for a new stereo. They both require a USB connection on this stereo, they cannot operate wirelessly. The connection will also charge your device. Get access to your music, audio, messaging and navigation apps which all look great on the massive display. Video apps do not transfer. Both work great with voice commands for Siri and Google Assistant.
on apps from your device to the headunit. Video apps don't transfer.
Bluetooth/Tuner
Bluetooth allows hands free calling and wireless music streaming. This unit does not have a disc slot. The radio tuner features 30 presets, 18 FM, 12 AM.
The CAR710X is SiriusXM Ready with the SXV300V1 universal tuner and steering wheel control ready with the ASWC-1 Interface.
USB Audio/Video/JPEG Playback
With a USB thumb drive the stereo is compatible with XviD, MP3, MP4, and FLAC files.
Screen Mirroring
It is possible to screenmirror a device to the CAR710X with its RCA AV inputs. All you would need is one of our mirroring kits for iPhone or Android. I'll put a link for both options in the video bio below. This will effectively get anything you want onto your stereo, youtube, netflix, HBO, tinder, whatever. Be aware that this is a safety hazard.

Car stereo installation
We show you the complete process of installing a Pioneer Double DIN car stereo in a Chevy truck. The in-depth video shows the installation of the interface, and steering wheel control.
Stereo Installation Basics
Let's start with the basics of replacing your car stereo receiver. In out first video we demonstrate how to crimp or solder your wiring, mount your new receiver to your dash kit and prepare everything for an installation in your vehicle.
Wiring Harnesses Explained
What do all of the wire colors mean? Aftermarket manufacturers have made car stereo receiver installation an easier process by using a standardized wire color scheme. We walk you through what each individual wire does, this way if you have an installation that doesn't perform properly you will have the resources to begin troubleshooting your installation.
Simple radio Installation
